Day 3 - Kaibab Campground and the Grand Canyon - North Rim

The campground is beautiful, BUT they have a no generator rule. We tried to use the inverter to make my coffee maker work, but it didn't. So... we decided to break the rule for 5 mintues for my coffee to brew! Of course the campground employee came to give us a hard time and clarify that there is a no generator rule, but I begged and was able to allow my coffee to finish brewing!! :o) I don't think he would want to see me with no coffee in the morning!! When we started our drive to see the Grand Canyon (about 45 miles from the campgrounds), it was pouring rain. We weren't sure if we would be able to see anything!!

So, I took what pictures I could and hoped that the weather would clear up so we could see more of the Grand Canyon.

Sam asked some other people who had their motorhomes in the parking lot if they had heard if the weather was going to clear. One of the groups said that yesterday, it had cleared about 3:30 p.m., so we went back to the motorhome and rested for a couple of hours. About 4 p.m. it did clear up and we headed out to enjoy the beauty of the North Rim!

It was well worth the wait!

On our way back to the Kaibab campgrounds we saw many heards of deer! Two were right next to the road eating, but my camera battery was DEAD! Of course! We stopped at one point at an open meadow where there was about 10 deer, but when we tried to get close, they pranced away! There was one that had a huge rack!
