Day 13-16 - Camping in Wolverine, MIchigan

What a blast we had in Wolverine with my family from Michigan! It was remote camping and we found a great spot in the shade of the trees! The location we camped at was the same area that my great-grandfather used to work logging. 16 Brenner's came (all are quad/dirtbike riders) and 8 friends joined in the fun!

After the camp was set up, everyone was ready to ride! What beautiful trails there were to explore! The first day was dusty because the ground was dry.
It was so wonderful getting to see my Uncle Jack again, along with his new wife Deb (a sweetheart!). I haven't seen my Uncle Jack for (I believe it has been) 30 years!
My cousin Scott is organizing the next trail ride... Quads one way, dirt bikes go on the single trails.
Uncle Tom, Jan, Paige and Sam wait for the next trail.
Uncle Jack and Deb taking up the rear and making sure all is going smoothly.
This is Hayle, Kenda, Paige and Johnny's idea for scaring away any potential bears who decide to come to the campsite... a tree that looks like a person!
Sam is kicking back after riding the single trails.
Kenda, Paige and Uncle Rick are ready for the next ride!
We came across a cool stream on one of the trails.
My Uncle's in Michigan:  Uncle Tom, Uncle Jack and Uncle Rick!
Johnny and I were riding toward the back of the line of bikes on a very dusty ride! We had such a great time getting dirty! Each time we went out riding, we were on the trails for about 3 hours. We even saw deer as we were on the trails!
Sam couldn't get enough of riding with the dirt bike gang (aka - my cousins and Uncle Tom). My cousins and their sons actually modified their handlebars to be shorter so they can make it through the narrow single trails.
After riding trails, we would cool off in Thumb Lake which was considered a beach. It was just like our beaches in CA with sand!
We only brought two quads and Sam's dirtbike because we didn't want to haul more weight across country. We all took turns riding.
more dirty faces!
One of the days, we had a really heavy rain. It was perfect for trail riding because there was no dust and it provided mud puddle obstacles! The mud around the puddles was slippery so we had to be careful with the quads to lean away from the puddle to help prevent sliding in. Bonnie made the mistake of trying to ride through what she thought was the shallow part of the puddle and it wasn't! She got stuck.
Uncle Rick and Tracy hooked up the tow rope and towed her out. Her spark plug socket was full of water so Uncle Rick had to wipe it out with a tissue so it would start again.
Then it was my turn to try to get around the mud puddle.
I made it barely! My tires started to slide but I gunned it and made it! Probably not the best thing to do, but I was already muddy from just riding and was determined to not slide in!!!

Sam got the chance to practice more shooting more targets in Wolverine!
He even shot an AR15... it was LOUD!
The last day, we took a group shot of the Brenner family Wolverine campers/riders and friends!
We had such a great time and are hoping to come back at least every other year to ride and camp Wolverine with our family in Michigan!
